Town Square gets an LED makeover

Until the fall of 2016, ETC’s Town Square was lit using 251 conventional fixtures. With the shift in lighting fixture technology, it was only a matter of time before the entire space would be modified to include ETC’s newer LED fixtures. Watch this time-lapse video as a small team performs the Town Square LED makeover.

The design was created by ETC’s good friend, Duane Schuler, who is known for his work as a theatrical lighting designer for organizations such as New York Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, De Nederlandse Opera, Opera National de Lyon, San Francisco Opera, Salzburg Festival, La Scala and American Ballet Theatre.

206 new LED fixtures were added while only 29 of original incandescent fixtures stayed. And after months of energy monitoring and data collection, it was confirmed that the new design reduces energy consumption by an impressive 47%!
