Hot on the heels of a successful USITT, we packed our bags, loaded the trucks and made our way to Germany for the Prolight + Sound tradeshow in Frankfurt (April 10-13). Here are a few highlights from the show floor and beyond…
Several brand new products were among the star attractions drawing the crowds to the ETC booths in Hall 3.0. Making their European debut were the Eos family’s Element 2 console, ColorSource Pearl variable white-light LED fixtures, and the Irideon WLZ architectural wash light.
For the third time at Prolight + Sound, we ran one of our legendary Student Sessions. Local students were excited to get behind-the-scenes access to ask questions and learn more about ETC and High End Systems.
Meanwhile, in Hall 4.0, there was a real buzz surrounding the High End Systems booth. In addition to sneak previews of new products, visitors were treated to a visual spectacular in the form of the latest installment of the ever-popular academic lighting programming competition, Hog Factor.
This year, with a helping hand from ETC GmbH and local dealer LMP Lichttechnik, High End opened up the contest to teams of students from all over Europe. The live final saw teams from Germany, Austria, Ukraine and the UK competing for the title. It was a close-run contest, with team Status Cue, from BS Evita vocational school in Vienna, ultimately scooping first prize.
As if that wasn’t enough excitement, at the 2018 Prolight + Sound International Press Award (PIPA) ceremony, ETC CEO Fred Foster was presented with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Fred said of the honor: “While this is an individual award, I believe that it belongs, as well, to the thousands of people who have worked for ETC over the last 42 years. Each person’s contribution has led to the success that ETC has enjoyed.”
That just about concludes our latest run of tradeshows, but we hope to see you at one of our other events in the coming months:
